Label XP Description
Label XP is a software utility whose sole purpose is to aid people in drawing and printing their own labels. It supports linking with a MDB database, and regardless of what the name may state, it runs on all Windows editions currently out there.
Easy-to-use interface
After going through a pretty quick and seamless setup process, you come face to face with a plain and simple GUI. It is comprised of a menu bar, a few buttons and a pane in which to preview your on-going project.
Although no Help contents are incorporated, Label XP is recommended to all types of users, including those less experienced, mostly due to its minimalistic interface. However, you should know that it is not particularly appealing.
Elements you can add, link to an MDB and other available options
This program lets you upload other labels, using an ETI format, while it also uses this extension to save your projects. In addition to that, you can customize the layout, by inputting values for margins, label width, and vertical and horizontal space.
As stated above, it is possible to link a MDB database, be it encrypted or not, by simply selecting it with the help of a built-in file browser and providing the password (is any). In addition to that, you can insert a textbox with custom font type, size and color, a barcode, picture or rectangle.
Last but not least, the background and foreground colors can be changed, elements can be brought to the front with just a click of the button and the barcode type can be changed.
Conclusion and performance
CPU and memory usage is low at all times and thus, the system’s performance is not going to be hampered. The response time is good and although the name might suggest differently, this tool is compatible with all Windows versions, including 8 and 8.1.
All in all, Label XP proves to be a pretty efficient software solution for both power and novice users, which are interested in creating labels in a simple environment. Nonetheless, it has not been updated in quite some time and the interface could use a facelift.
