After a quick setup where you select the files to securely backup and the files you want to securely delete, Laptop Buddy runs quietly as a windows service. If your laptop or computer is stolen, visit Laptop Buddys Stolen Computer page to mark your computer as stolen. The next time your laptop or computer comes online, Laptop Buddy will begin backing up your files to the Laptop Buddy server. Your files are encrypted before being backed up, to ensure your data confidentiality. As Laptop Buddy is backing up your files, it will start securely deleting your files using a Department of Defense algorithm for securely erasing files. As your files are backed up, you will receive an e-mail notifying that your encrypted files are available for you to download from the Laptop Buddy server. The e-mail will provide instructions and a link to allow you to retrieve your files.
