There are many labeling applications that provide support for the LightScribe optical disc recording technology, thus enabling you to create your own direct-to-disc labels. In order to make sure that the LightScribe system functions properly, you need an extra tool called LightScribe System Software.
This application is sometimes included in the labeling package, but if that is not the case, you need to install it separately. Its main purpose is to ensure that the LightScribe system is constantly functioning at optimal parameters, thus allowing you to create one-of-a-kind, professional-looking labels from home.
Once started, LightScribe System Software runs silently in the system tray and its features can be accessed from the right-click context menu. By using the Control Panel, you can easily customize the LightScribe settings and view information about the system.
The application can change the contrast options. You can either enable the default factory settings (obviously, this does not affect the output contrast) or choose to increase the label contrast, thus making the output darker. However, this comes with a price, as the label creation process might take a bit longer.
Additionally, LightScribe System Software can display notifications regarding the LightScribe system and its functioning, but this feature can be disabled from the Control Panel. A complete list of the LightScribe drives installed on your computer is also displayed, together with the manufacturer, the model number and the drive ID.
