Lightweight2 Description
The main method of taking a ride on the information superhighway is the web browser. This doesn’t necessarily mean the only options at your disposal are programs with a powerful reputation, with others also fitted with the features you need, and probably at the cost of less resources. One suitable example here is Lightweight2.
Can be used on the go
A cool thing about it is that it doesn’t come bundled inside an installer, so you can see what it’s all about as soon as it reaches your computer. More than that, it can easily be carried around on a USB flash drive to always have a method of going online. This doesn’t put a strain on the stability of the target computer, because it doesn’t modify registry entries to function.
The visual design is clean, with the upper toolbar holding necessary navigation controls, as well as the URL field. Most of the space is where content is displayed, and you can maximize the window for a better view. In case you’re using multiple tabs, there’s a tab view to help close or access them.
Poor support for modern content elements
Every tab is fitted with its own URL field, unlike a general one as encountered in most web browsers. Unfortunately, you’re not able to change it, but there are navigation controls to use. The application also comes with a built-in search bar which helps you obtain either Google, or Wikipedia results in the blink of an eye.
The bookmarks manager makes it possible to save all frequently accessed pages, and even organize them in groups. There is a downside to the entire operation though, which is caused by poor compatibility with new content, which means you might have trouble viewing fancy pages, animations, or even videos.
In conclusion
Bottom line is that Lightweight2 offers a straightforward browsing experience which leaves much to be desired. It comes with tab support, and bookmarks manager to handle favorite pages. However, without proper support for modern content, the entire navigation experience has a lot to suffer.
