ListCopy

ListCopy is an application developed in Java which helps you open and Winamp playlist files to study contents, create new playlists, as well as transfer the corresponding audio tracks to another destination. It doesn't have complex options or configuration settings, making it suitable for all types of users.

Java-based tool with a clear-cut interface

If you have Java installed, you don't need to set up anything else. The entire program's wrapped in one executable .jar file that you can copy to a preferred location on the disk or keep stored on a USB flash drive to seamlessly run ListCopy on any PC with Java. It doesn't create files without asking for permission or modify Windows registry settings.
Regarding the interface, the app sticks to a basic window with a well-structured layout, where you can load the contents of Winamp playlists from .pls or .m3u files.

Create new playlists and copy, move or delete songs

You can check out the full path of each corresponding file in the main window, specify a destination folder, and ask the tool to create a .pls file called null.pls using the selected information obtained from the opened playlist.
It's also possible to copy or move selected files to the specified directory, or to delete them if you want to clean up your music collection. There are no other notable options available.

Evaluation and conclusion

ListCopy copied audio tracks rapidly in our testing while remaining light on system resources consumption. Although it hasn't been recently updated, it worked smoothly on newer Windows versions. No error dialogs were indicated and it didn't freeze or crash.
All in all, ListCopy offers a user-friendly interface for viewing playlist files, creating new ones, and managing the corresponding tracks. It's free and open source.
