LiveStreamer is a lightweight software application whose purpose is to help users play video streams in clean environment.
The interface is quite plain and offers only a few dedicated parameters to tinker with.
The program gives you the possibility to specify a valid URL from where it grabs the information or add a video file from your computer, provided that the file format is FLV.
What’s more, you can switch to a full screen mode for a better focus on your work and reset the current information. Plus, files can be uploaded into the working space using only “drag and drop” operations.
Since it doesn’t require much computer knowledge to work with this tool, even rookies can master the entire process with just a few clicks.
However, more experienced users may find it pretty inconvenient to work with a tool that that doesn’t offer support for advanced functions. You are not allowed to play, pause, or stop the current video selection, adjust the volume, use hotkeys, and seek a position in the video streams.
During our testing we have noticed that LiveStreamer provides good video quality, and no errors showed up throughout the entire process. As it would be expected from such a small utility, it remains light on system resources, so it doesn’t hamper the overall performance of the computer, nor interfere with other programs’ functionality.
To sum things up, LiveStreamer offers a simple software solution when it comes to helping you play video streams, and is suitable especially for rookies.
