It’s always a good idea to be aware of resource consumption on your computer, especially for development tasks. For instance, you might be interested in the file read/write speed of your HDD, and want to have this info in plain sight. Logical Disk Indicator is such an application, displaying speed in an unobtrusive manner.

Choose one or more drives to monitor

On the bright side of things, the application doesn’t even need to be installed in order to functions. This means a couple of things, such as that it doesn’t leave any registry entries on your computer, and you can thus easily carry it around and safely use it on other computers or wherever necessary.
The application’s core feature is put into effect from the moment it’s launched. All connected and detected drives are displayed in the homonymous tab, with column headers for name, and read/write speed in units per second. There are, in fact, several methods through which you can tell if a drive is busy.

Multiple methods to display activity

A tray icon is also added during application startup. If you’re not directly interested in read/write speed you can minimize the application to the tray area, because the dedicated icon is made up of one or more LED indicators, one for every selected drive. Apart from this, the application can also alert you of activity via your keyboard’s Scroll Lock LED indicator.
The tray icon can either be the default program icon, LED and drive letter, or drive icon. This is selected from the options menu, where you also toggle Scroll Lock LED usage. Additionally, you can adjust polling interval in milliseconds.
