Long Filename Finder

Long Filename Finder is a lightweight program with a pretty self-explanatory name - it allows you to scan you computer for files with long names and rename them.
This type of tool is required the moment your audio tracks have long filenames which are not accepted for disc burning, for instance. The app can be easily handled, even by inexperienced users.
This is a portable program, so it is not necessary to install Long Filename Finder. It means that you can save the tool to a removable device (such as a USB flash drive), store it on any computer and directly run its executable file.
More importantly, the Windows registry is not altered in any way and no leftover items can be found after removing the app. Plus, you can always have Long Filename Finder with you when you're on the go.
The interface of Long Filename Finder is based on a standard window and intuitive layout. Once you specify the target folder, you can initialize the scanning procedure with just the click of a button.
A list of all found files is immediately displayed; you can check out the filename and extension of each item. In order to rename a file and/or its type, simply use the mouse cursor or keyboard shortcuts. The app automatically switches to the next file to be renamed when you press the 'Enter' key, so it provides quick navigation between items.
The simple-to-use program requires a very low amount of system resources in order to finish a scanning task briefly. No error dialogs were displayed during our tests and Long Filename Finder did not freeze or crash. Some user tips are available on the upper part of the layout.
However, we have noticed that Long Filename Finder also takes into account the extension of the files when you specify the minimum number of characters to search for (this option cannot be changed). Otherwise, Long Filename Finder is a pretty straightforward tool for renaming filenames according to their length. No recent updates have been made.
