LuJoSoft Checksum Description
Hash values, generated using various algorithms, are frequently used by cryptography applications, as well as to verify the integrity of downloaded files.
LuJoSoft Checksum is a straightforward application designed to help you calculate hashes using the MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256 and SHA-512 algorithms. It supports drag and drop actions, features a simple, if somewhat outdated interface, and is fully portable.
Handy checksum utility that can be deployed easily
LuJoSoft Checksum is very lightweight, and it has the advantage of not needing to be installed on your computer before it is launched. You can run it from any location, even portable storage devices.
However, .Net Framework needs to be installed on the host system for the application to function correctly.
No-nonsense tool for generating hash values
LuJoSoft Checksum is nothing if not user-friendly, as all you need to do is launch the program and drop a file anywhere in the main window. Of course, you can also browse to its location manually.
By default, the application calculates hash values using all the supported algorithms, but you can disable the ones you have no need for. It is worth mentioning that, although the most popular ones are accounted for, some algorithms are not supported, such as MD2, HAVAL or SHA-384.
Once the hashes have been generated, you can select and copy them to the clipboard manually, but you can also complete this action by pressing the Copy buttons.
Minimalistic and rather outdated interface
LuJoSoft Checksum is perhaps not the most stylish program out there, and its appearance is probably not going to impress users who are accustomed to modern, streamlined applications. It is also worth noting that the main window cannot be resized.
To be fair, however, you are not likely to keep the utility on your desktop for extended periods of time, so these are not major issues.
All in all, LuJoSoft Checksum is a handy tool for users who frequently need to generate file hash values. It is very easy to use, supports drag and drop actions and is fully portable.
