Lutz Roeder's .NET Resourcer Description
Lutz Roeder's .NET Resourcer is a feather-light software application that facilitates a user-friendly environment for viewing and editing resource binary files. It offers support for files with the .resources, .resX and .txt format.
No setup necessary, besides .NET Framework
As long as you have .NET Framework installed on the PC, you don't need to set up anything else. This means that you can save the program files in any part of the disk and simply click the executable to launch Lutz Roeder's .NET Resourcer. Otherwise, you can store it on a USB flash drive to directly run it on any PC. It doesn't change the Windows registry configuration.
Simple interface and options
Made from a small window with a well-structured layout, the interface invites you to open a resource file to view its contents and make the necessary modifications. It shows the name and value of each object in the main window, along with its containing contents.
It's possible to cut, copy, paste or delete text, insert new text by entering a name and value, attach external files, as well as to overwrite the original document or save changes to a new file by indicating an output file name and saving directory. There are no other notable options provided by this software utility.
Evaluation and conclusion
It didn't put a strain on the machine's performance in our tests, since it didn't hang, crash or display error messages. Unsurprisingly, it used low CPU and memory, so it didn't hog system resources.
On the other hand, Lutz Roeder's .NET Resourcer features just a couple of basic options and doesn't keep more advanced settings for experienced users. We should also keep in mind that it hasn't been updated for significant time.
