M4A Converter

M4A Converter is a small software application whose purpose is to help you convert audio files to M4A file format and extract audio streams from video files. The audio streams can be exported to M4A file format as well.

Clean looks

After a fast and simple installation process where you only need to press on a few buttons in order to gain access to the GUI, you are welcomed by a simple design. The interface looks easy to decode so you are not going to spend a lot of time tweaking the dedicated parameters. There’s no support for a help manual, but you can manage to set up conversion tasks on your own.

Conversion capabilities

M4A Converter offers you the possibility to convert all sorts of audio files, such as MP3, WAV, AAC, WMA, FLAC, and AC3 to M4A file format. In addition, the application is able to handle videos and allows you to extract the audio streams. It works with different video formats, such as WMV, MP4, 3GP, MKV, FLV, VOB, MPG, AVI, and MOV.
Files can be imported in the working environment using only the built-in browse button (the drag-and-drop support is not implemented). A built-in media player is not integrated in the main window.
The program lets you create a list with the files that you want to process. You may remove the selected items or clear the entire workspace with a single click, start or stop conversion jobs, and pick the saving directory.
In addition, you are allowed to set the quality of the output audio files by choosing between several preset profiles (e.g. high, medium, low) or manually specifying the bitrate.

Final words

To sum things up, M4A Converter comes bundled with basic features for helping you carry out conversion tasks. On the downside, it is not quite speedy when it comes to encoding large files.
