Computer security is ensured by an antivirus program alone, with various threats lurking even beyond the information superhighway. Confidential details can easily be stolen right at a workplace from an unattended computer, especially if it’s not locked by its user. In this regard, Max2k LockIt wants to make it easy to lock the computer to prevent unauthorized access while away.
The application is devoid of its own graphical interface, with no related configurations to waste any time. On launch, it directly minimizes to the tray area, with a clear associated icon to make it easy to spot among others in the tray area. Interaction instantly locks the workstation through default means, with the local user password required to return to the desktop.
By default, it’s not fitted with a hotkey command. This is mostly because Windows already provides a set of buttons to trigger this command. Note that launching the application doesn’t directly lock the PC, so assigning a hotkey command to the shortcut doesn’t create an alternative to the default one.
Manual tweaking is also required to make the application automatically run with Windows, and comes in handy to have the lock function ready, especially since it has a low impact on system startup. This is easily done by placing the program’s shortcut in the system Startup folder.
