MDLUtility2 Description
MDLUtility2 is a lightweight Windows application designed with a single goal in mind: to help users view the images and MDL files (which embed 3D model files) stored in their computer in a fast and easy way.
The advantages of being portable
Since this is a portable program, it is important to mention that it doesn’t leave any traces in the Windows Registry.
You can copy it on any USB flash drive or other devices, and take it with you whenever you need to open and view photos on the fly, without having to go through installation steps.
Simplistic layout
You are welcomed by a plain interface that allows you to carry out most operations with minimal effort. All settings are displayed in the primary panel, so it proves to be actually pretty easily to configure them.
File can be uploaded into the working environment using the built-in browse button, so you cannot rely on “drag and drop†support.
Main features
MDLUtility2 gives you the possibility to specify the directory that contains the images that you want to process. The tool is able to automatically scan the selected folder and upload the items into the primary panel. It actually creates a list with the filenames, and in order to view a picture you are required to click on the filename.
It also offers support for conversion options, as you may export the selected file to PNG, JPG, BMP, ICO, EMF, WMF, or other file format. Additionally, you can view information about each item, such as filename, pixel, size, and others, zoom in or out of the photo, and switch to a full screen mode for a better focus on your work.
Since it doesn’t require much computer knowledge to work with this small app, even less experienced users can master the utility with minimum effort. During our testing we have noticed that MDLUtility2 carries out a task quickly. As it would be expected from such a small utility, it remains light on system resources, so it doesn’t hamper computer performance, nor interfere with other programs’ functionality.
Bottom line
To sum things up, MDLUtility2 offers a simple software solution when it comes to helping you open MDL and image files.
