Mediapotok - Lite Edition Description
Mediapotok - Lite Edition comes across as a video investigation tool, able to inspect a wide array of formats and to deliver a full report on the components residing in a media container.
Although there are plenty of similar utilities on today’s market, Mediapotok - Lite Edition impresses through the level of detail inside the reports, serving the information to the user in a comprehensive manner.
In addition, the program features support for a wide array of video formats, including AVI, MP4, MOV, MKV, FLV, VOB, MTS, 3GP, QT, OGG and 3G2, to name the most important ones. Next to the rich format support, you’ve also got a third-party utility bundled inside the program, namely MediaInfo.
With the aid of the latter, you will be able to retrieve basic information about the media streams inside a video file, related to codecs, FPS, aspect ratio, duration and so on. As opposed to MediaInfo, the report provided by Mediapotok - Lite Edition is richer, but also a little more difficult to interpret.
In other words, the program targets experienced users, who have extensive know-how of video containers. Each media file is analyzed once it is loaded, then a HEX editor becomes available in the left side of the main window, accompanied by a detailed video report located to the right of the GUI.
Depending on the container that is loaded, the information in the report varies. Nonetheless, for all video formats, the program displays the information into a tree-view that can be navigated quite easily.
What the application misses is an option to export the report for later reviewing. Hopefully, this feature will be available in future releases. For the time being, Mediapotok - Lite Edition makes for a reliable video information tool, one that provides extensive details for popular containers.
