Mega Calculator Description

The computer can calculate complex expressions in the blink of an eye, which makes it an efficient and powerful processing tool. Windows provides a default calculator you can use, but there are also tons of alternatives. For instance, Mega Calculator is a straightforward program with different calculus mode, and tape to easily copy results.

Advantages of a portable app

On the bright side, the application doesn’t need to be installed in order to function, which means it’s good to go from the moment download is done. As such, it can be carried around on a thumb drive to always have a practical calculator at hand. Moreover, registry entries remain intact during the whole operation.
A pretty compact window shows up on launch. Unfortunately, it can’t be moved or forced to stay on top of other windows on the desktop. You might end up scratching your head for a while, since there’s no numpad to use. If you feel too lost, the rich built-in documentation file can shed some light on how things work.

Leaves more to be desired

The main window is the basic calculus form, with three fields for two values, and the result. Operations, however, are limited to basic ones like add, subtract, multiply, or divide. With the two values written down, selecting the operation instantly shows results. Length of numbers on each line is shown in dedicated sections.
On the other hand, there’s an alternative mode you can use. However, it’s only slightly different from the basic one, in the sense that the result is delivered as you type, with a mandatory selection of operation type. The built-in clip shows a neat representation you can view on a line or stacked, and have it sent to clipboard.

In conclusion

Taking everything into consideration, we can say that Mega Calculator comes with good intentions, but fails to deliver the depth to surpass even the default option Windows puts at your disposal. Input method is ambiguous, with only basic operations at your disposal.
