MindTags Description

Chances are you need to keep track of an abundance of activities or ideas, and it can be quite a frustrating practice to work with different documents. Luckily, there are various specialized applications which help you create clever lists of what you need to remember, and MindTags is a suitable example here.

Create lists on the spot

On the bright side of things, you don’t even have to go through a setup process to make the application work, so you can see what it can do for you as soon as download is done. More than this, you can carry it with you on a thumb drive to have your lists at hand regardless of the computer you’re using. Note that Java Runtime Environment is mandatory for functionality.
The application is pretty minimalistic, and there’s only one window which holds them all. A large section is where all items of interest are enlisted, while the upper sections holds the filter field and dedicated management functions. The initial list is fitted with an intuitive set of instructions to help you get started.

You need to remember list names for access

In order to start a new note, you need to add a name in the upper box, but be sure to remember it, because writing it again is the only way to access it later on. You’re then free to add items of interest, and there’s not really a limit of characters. However, there are no font customization options to highlight important things.
Sure enough it can seem pretty practical overall, but things tend to get complicated on the long run. This is because the application doesn’t show a list of all created lists, so you need to know the exact name of the list to access it, and there aren’t any suggestions while typing either.

On an ending note

To sum it up, MindTags comes with good intentions, but it gets pretty difficult to manage when having to deal with a lot of lists. Creating them is a walk in the park, but it could have definitely used at least a drop-down menu to be able to comfortably view and access created lists.
