MMC Description
MMC is a small Windows application whose purpose is to help you organize your movie collection by storing detailed information about each movie.
Simple looks
You are welcomed by a clean layout that simply lists all movie titles in the main window, along with the cover photo and additional details about general information, casting, and extra data.
Storing movies in the database
MMC gives you the possibility to add a new movie in the database by providing information about the title, director, year of production, release date, genres, runtime, type (e.g. VCD, WMV, DVD-5, DVD-9), source (e.g. DVD, Blu-ray), personal comments, as well as date when the item was added.
What’s more, you can assign a cover image (JPG file format), make a list with the casting, and give extra details about the country, language, resolution, size, rating, and description.
The application helps you count the total number of movies included in the collection, select the folder that contains the cover photos, and perform searches throughout the database. You can open sites like IMDb or cdcovers.cc via your default web browser.
Needs several improvements
On the downside, you are not allowed to sort the movies using different criteria (e.g. ascending or descending order, actor, director), print and export the list with items to plain text, Excel or HTML file format, automatically grab movie data from the Internet, and check out statistics about the number of TV series and directors.
You cannot change the program’s look using different thematic profiles and arrange the movies on a virtual shelf, just to name some of the suggestions that could make MMC the perfect candidate for organizing your movie database.
Final remarks
All in all, MMC comes packed with a basic suite of features for helping you manually store data about movies. We can’t overlook the fact that it doesn’t provide information retrieval from IMDb and other online websites, so creating a movie database may turn into a time-consuming task.
