Monidir 2000

Monidir is a simple-to-use program which enables you to monitor directories for changes, including system and network folders. It can be handled by administrators and even by users with little experience in software apps.
The interface of the application is represented by a standard window with a plain and uncomplicated layout, where you can specify up to twenty folders to monitor simultaneously.
Monidir is able to trigger a custom sound alarm (WAV format) and send an email via SMTP or MAPI to a list of multiple recipient addresses, whenever files have been added, changed or deleted from the specified locations.
It is also possible to make the tool automatically bypass this screen on startup, as well as establish a time interval for folder scanning. Modifications to the directories in question are automatically applied with the click of a button.
Henceforth, Monidir creates an icon in the system tray area, enabling you to edit existing parameters. Once any directory changes are noticed by the utility, it brings up a window revealing the date, time and path for every modified file. This list can be printed or saved to a plain text document for further evaluation.
Monidir is very light on the system resources, using a minimal amount of CPU and system memory. However, the app has not been updated for a very long time, and it has some stability issues on newer Windows platforms. Furthermore, it lacks some important options.
For example, the monitoring task must be activated each time, once new directory changes are made, so you don't have the possibility of setting it up on a long-term, continuing basis. Nevertheless, Monidir packs some user-friendly settings for notifying you every time files are added, changed or deleted from a directory.
