Mozart

Mozart is a professional software application that gives users the possibility to write musical notes in a clean working environment with the use of keyboard shortcuts, a virtual piano or through MIDI devices.
The user interface may seem a bit overwhelming at a first glance, but this is only because the program comes packed with many dedicated parameters.
A new musical score can be added by selecting from a wide range of templates (e.g. clarinet quartet, flute and piano, trumpet and piano, orchestra, guitar, piano solo) and adjusting the key, time and tempo. Additionally, you can define the compositions on your own and select the instruments from a preset list.
Thanks to its multi-tabbed support, you may work with multiple staves in the same time. You can edit the notes, adjust the margins and spacing, as well as edit score properties in terms of instruments and long, abbreviated or no stave names.
The application allows users to stop or play the current composition, as well as play it from the insertion point or only the selected parts. Plus, you can import MIDI, NIFF or XML files.
Mozart bundles many configurable settings, as you can zoom in or out of the working environment, place the notes horizontally, enter lyrics under the notes (which aligns themselves automatically on the stave), repitch notes, change octaves, cut, copy or paste the notes, insert bars and beats, and pick a chord symbol style, just to name a few of the features available.
It is important to mention that hotkeys are also available for a better control over the entire process, and they can be reassigned. The generated musical compositions can be exported to MIDI file format, and you can save the information included in the staves to EMF, GIF, JPG, PNG, TIF or BMP, or print it.
All in all, Mozart proves to be a tool that is suitable especially for advanced users, as it provides many useful features for writing and playing musical compositions. Rookies may spend some time trying to configure the dedicated parameters.
