Mp3Splitter Description
Written in Java, Mp3Splitter is a straightforward piece of software that enables you to split MP3 audio tracks into smaller pieces. It has two cutting methods available and can be easily handled by all types of users.
No setup required, besides Java
As long as you have Java installed, you don't need to set up anything else. This means that you can save the executable Jar file anywhere on the disk or on a USB flash drive, and just double-click it to launch the tool. It doesn't make any changes in the Windows registry and doesn't create extra files on the disk without your approval.
Simple GUI for cutting MP3 tracks
As far as the interface goes, Mp3Splitter opts for a standard window with a plain and simple structure, where you can select the input MP3 file to process, along with the location of the new items.
It's possible to cut the tracks by size (in kilobytes) or by time (in minutes and seconds), depending on your preferences. Log details are shown in the bottom part of the screen, where you can examine details about any errors. There are no other noteworthy options available here.
Evaluation and conclusion
The tool worked smoothly in our evaluation, without causing the OS to hang, crash or show error messages. It had minimal impact on the computer's performance in our tests, running on a low amount of CPU and RAM.
On the other hand, we have noticed that it only extracts the first part of the audio track by taking into account the size or time. This means that it doesn't actually cut the song into multiple pieces to be able to put them back together using a different software application. Nevertheless, you can test Mp3Splitter for yourself, since it's free.
