Music Rescue (formerly PodUtil)

Transferring and managing the songs and playlists stored on your iPod can be an easy and even fun job, provided that the appropriate tools are at hand. To backup all the data on such a device and keep it in sync you will need an application like Music Rescue.
With a friendly interface and nice features waiting to be discovered, this software aims to make the whole iPod music management activity a pleasant one. The main window hosts all the knobs and switches that you can use to control the program.
As soon as you connect your iPod and start Music Rescue, the utility will scan and identify the files stored onto the device. The application organizes the songs an playlists for easy reviewing and retrieval.
You can browse the music by genre, artist or album, but if you prefer otherwise, there is always the general list which includes all the tracks. The list can be exported and you can choose what to transfer: the complete iPod song database, just the audio files or only the visible items.
With Music Rescue you can also create sets of rules that will apply to specific files that meet certain requirements. Thus, you can have some songs queued and ready for transfer if they belong to the same album, for example.
If you want to have music, videos, podcasts, audiobooks, notes or recordings automatically transferred when the iPod is connected, allows you to do so if you simply select the categories in the 'Copying' tab of the 'Preferences' menu.
