MusicZen Description
MusicZen is an application that enables you to organize MP3 music collections into new folders by giving them new names and by taking into account their ID3 tags. It contains intuitive options that can be tackled by all types of users.
Setup, prerequisites, and interface
Setting it up takes little time and effort. Just keep in mind that you must have .NET Framework installed, since it was developed with the aid of this platform.
When it comes to the interface, MusicZen opts for an attractive window with an approachable structure, where you can indicate the folder containing MP3 tracks, along with the directory to create the new files.
Copy or move MP3 files
Worth noting is that the original items remain untouched, so there's no need to create backups before using this program. This can be done by simply copying the files. However, they can be moved instead.
It's possible to put together subfolders with the genre, year, artist and album, as well as to view the new filenames, which are automatically generated based on the folder tree. All changes are applicable with the click of a button.
Evaluation and conclusion
Tasks were carried out swiftly in our tests, during which the tool used a low amount of CPU and RAM, so it didn't hamper the computer's performance. It was stable throughout our evaluation, without causing the operating system to hang, crash or indicate errors.
To wrap it up, MusicZen comes bundled with simple and intuitive settings to help you quickly organize MP3 files based on their tags. However, it doesn't make room for customization when it comes to advanced users looking for more control. For example, it's not possible to set the exact tags for the new folder trees, nor to edit the file renaming pattern.
