MyContacts Portable

Made as the portable counterpart of MyContacts, this is a resourceful utility designed to help you put together a database with contacts, events, tasks, to-do lists, birthdays, and other kinds of information.

Portability benefits

Because setup is not required, you can extract the program files anywhere on the disk or copy them to a USB flash drive, and then just click the .exe to launch the tool on any computer directly. Unlike most apps with installers, this one doesn't change the Windows registry configuration.

Events checkup and user-friendly interface

At startup, MyContacts automatically verifies events and informs you of anything important. In the next phase, you can either bring up the main application window or send the app to the system tray to make it non-intrusive.
As far as the interface is concerned, the utility adopts a user-friendly window with a clear-cut structure, where you can create new contacts with personal and professional information, copy or delete them, as well as export details to external files (.txt. .html, .csv or .xls format).

Manage, back up and configure the database

It's possible to assign contact photos, create tasks and associate them with contacts, enable alarms for important events, or back up and restore the database with contacts or dates. It can also be sent via email.
MyContacts lets you generate lists with birthdays and anniversaries, use a search function and narrow down results by categories, switch to another UI language, enable debugging mode, customize the left and right side color of the contacts, disable event checkups at startup, activate sound alerts, and more.

Evaluation and conclusion

No error dialogs were shown in our tests, and the software application didn't hang or crash. It had a good response time and minimal impact on computer performance, using low CPU and memory. Too bad that it hasn't been updated for a long time, since it needs some improvements when it comes to the UI appearance. Otherwise, MyContacts comes packed with some practical options for managing a contacts database, and it can be seamlessly handled by anyone.
