Name2Ip2Mac is a small tool which does not require installation. You can use it to convert computer names into IP and MAC addresses, and vice versa.
The application does not include complex settings, making it ideal for users who are looking for straightforward software, including novices.
Since there is no setup pack involved, you can save the executable file to any location on the hard drive and just click it to run.
It is also possible to move Name2Ip2Mac to a USB flash disk or similar storage unit, in order to run it on any computer without prior installers. Administrative privileges are not required.
An important factor to take into account is that the Windows registry does not receive new keys, and no additional files are created on the computer. Moreover, the Start menu is not populated with new entries.
Name2Ip2Mac is wrapped in a small window with a plain structure, where you can input or paste a computer name or IP address into the dedicated box, and convert them to IP or MAC addresses with the click of a button.
The software application has minimal impact on system performance, since it needs a very low amount of CPU and RAM. Unfortunately, the tool has not been updated for a very long time and it does not work properly on later operating systems (it hang every time we tried converting an address in Windows 7).
Nevertheless, people who still use older Windows editions can resort to Name2Ip2Mac whenever they need to convert computer names into IP and MAC addresses, or the other way around.
