NB SimpleTimer Description
Chances are you need to be well-aware of the time it takes to perform a particular activity. If this is done on a computer, you benefit from a wide range of specialized applications which can perfectly track your tasks, or simply put up a timer so you manually decide when it’s time to stop, being the case with NB SimpleTimer.
Expand the window to reveal options
Although the application first takes you through a setup process, it’s also possible to have it deployed on a thumb drive, because it doesn’t really depend on registry entries to enable functionality. This makes it your very own timer or countdown clock which you easily carry around on a thumb drive.
A pretty compact window shows up at launch, with a high chance to leave you slightly confused. There’s a timer field which is set to 0 by default, as well as a couple of buttons to start a session, and to expand the window in order to reveal a set of advanced options, as well as the possibility to toggle the timer mode.
A couple of timer modes to use
Needless to say that hitting the start buttons puts the counter in motion, and doesn’t end until you stop it. There’s no reset function in plain sight, so you need to expand the window in order to manually set the timer to zero to start over. Additionally, there are several controls with which to add or subtract minutes from the clock.
As mentioned, there’s a second mode, which is a countdown timer. Here, you need to manually set a value to count from, and this can either be done through the addition controls, or the dedicated fields for hour, minute, and second. Unfortunately, there’s no built-in alert to tell you when it’s done, not even a simple chime.
In conclusion
Taking everything into consideration, we can state that NB SimpleTimer is a pretty straightforward timer tool, which can sit on top of every other window and count time either up or down. Although it manages to get the job done, it could have used at least a simple alert mode, especially for the countdown clock.
