Network Profiles Utility Description
Network Profiles Utility is a lightweight and portable piece of software you can use to import and export network profile configurations to file as a security measure for restoring IP and DNS settings. It's primarily geared toward PC users with some experience in such tools, like network administrators.
Doesn't require installation
The entire program's packed into a single executable file that can be saved anywhere on the disk or copied to a removable storage unit to launch Network Profiles Utility on any machine with little effort. It doesn't alter system registry settings but it automatically creates and updates a configuration file to remember your options on exit.. To perform an uninstall, you just have to delete this item.
Configure import and export settings
At startup, you're greeted by the configuration panel of the utility, where you can set the default run mode (perform backup and restore automatically and exit), include the wireless profiles (Windows Vista, 7 and 8) along with static ID and DNS settings.
Back up and restore network configuration profiles
Furthermore, you can specify the profile location if you're not pleased with the default directory, as well as instruct the tool to automatically store profiles based on the computer and user names. Hovering the mouse pointer over an option reveals descriptions on the bottom part of the panel.
From the main application window, you can export profiles to file and later import them for restoration, as well as indicate the profile location on the disk.
Evaluation and conclusion
The software utility had minimal impact on the computer's performance in our testing, running on a low amount of CPU and RAM. It stayed stable throughout its runtime, without hanging, crashing or prompting errors.
All in all, Network Profiles Utility comes packed with intuitive features for importing and exporting network configuration profiles for backup purposes.
