However, you can either turn your monitor off whenever you don't use it or rely on third-party software solutions such as Note Cracker Screensaver, as they can prevent dead pixels from forming.

Lets you change the background picture

This program is meant to protect your screen from dead pixels by displaying an animation, but it might not be as effective, given that its resolution is low and doesn't cover your whole screen, but a small part in the center. The animation consists of four different-sized elephants walking horizontally across your screen and a ball that bounces off the edges of the background image, occasionally bumping the elephants, which temporarily change color.
However, unlike other screensavers, it lets you interact with it and change the images according to your preferences. You can choose from a series of images or simple patterns that are provided by the app and use your own images as background.

Unstoppable sound effects

Also, aside from letting you customize the background images, Note Cracker Screensaver also plays a song during the screensaver's runtime, with no way of turning it off, which might be annoying to some users.
Although you can open the native "Screen Saver Options" window and access the "Settings" section, the sound effects and music keep on playing, regardless of whether they're disabled or not. Moving your mouse won't close the screensaver. Instead, you have to either hit the "Esc" key on your keyboard or use the right-click menu within the app to exit.
