Some of the most popular applications on the Internet are those for creating notes on your computer. One of them is Notebook.
It's a small and neat software solution for creating multiple notes on your system and making sure you don't lose important information by using the backup tool. However, it has very few features and all notes are limited to 1,000 characters.

Small and simple graphical interface

The application installs quickly and sports a really simple and dated graphical interface with a toolbar at the top of the window.
However, it doesn't have any options for adding or removing items from the toolbar which is quite inconvenient. It also lacks additional skins or any options for customizing the interface or at least changing the background color.

Create notes easily

The main window doesn't have any functionality. Unlike other similar note applications, you can't simply start typing in order to create a note. You need to click on the Start a new note button, which opens a whole new window.
This means that the note-taking process isn't fluent and it takes long to actually reach the editor view. You can enter a name for the note, keywords and maximum 1,000 characters. It's quite inconvenient that you would have to limit your notes for a certain number of characters.

Backup your notes

It allows you to create as many notes as you want, but it would have been nice if it displayed a list with all notes in the main window. Instead, you need to type in keywords in order to retrieve them.
Still, it displays the date when you created notes, but you can't set a password in order to restrict access to them. It also doesn't come with a built-in calendar or any text formatting tools. Still, you can backup notes on your computer so that you wouldn't lose them.
All in all, Notebook is a very simple application for taking notes and it definitely needs a lot more tools, at least some customization options or text formatting features.
