NT Disk Viewer Description
NT Disk Viewer is a hard disk utility that gives you the possibility to analyze your HDD's physical sectors in text, hexadecimal and file record mode.
It offers support for FAT and NTFS filesystems, enables you to copy and save data to file, and comes in handy for performing low-level investigations to check the efficiency of file and disk formatting applications.
Speedy setup and outdated interface
The program gets unpacked quickly and easily, thanks to the fact that the setup wizard doesn't have special options. The installer is also clean, as there are no third-party offers or software requirements involved.
When it comes to the interface, NT Disk Viewer has an outdated window with a simple design and neatly structured layout that makes it easy to figure out how it works.
Analyze and save disk sector data to file
A fixed drive can be selected from a drop-down menu. This triggers the application to automatically analyze the physical sectors and display data in text, hexadecimal or file record mode, depending on which option is picked (text by default).
It's possible to enter the starting sector as well as to save displayed information in a plain text document or binary file by choosing the drive and range of sectors. Otherwise, you can manually select and copy text using the Ctrl+C key combination or by opening the right-click menu. The upper bar reveals the filesystem, total size and sectors of the currently selected partition.
Evaluation and conclusion
Although NT Disk Viewer hasn't been updated for a while, it worked smoothly on the newest Windows edition in our tests, without any compatibility issues. No error dialogs popped up and it didn't freeze or crash. CPU and RAM usage was minimal. Due to its simple interface and clear-cut options, the hard disk utility can be easily tackled.
