Okawix Description
Okawix is a Windows software application designed as an offline reader for Wikipedia. The program gives you the possibility to download online Wikipedia content (with or without pictures) and access data without being connected to the Internet.
It comes with support for a large library containing a wide range of projects in different languages. You are given the freedom to download data from the Wikimedia Foundation, namely such as Wikipedia, Wiktionary, Wikisource, Wikibooks or Wikiquote projects.
Clean feature lineup
Okawix sports a clean and simple layout that places the configuration settings at your fingertips. There’s also support for a help manual that highlights the keys features of the utility.
Downloading options
As soon as you select the preferred language, the program reveals a list with all available archives for the target language. What’s more, you are given the freedom to download the archive on local drive, in the directory of your choice.
Okawix lets you download data for offline viewing with or without pictures. If you do not have a lot of space on your hard drive, you may opt for grabbing the online information without photos.
At the end of the downloading process, the application lets you view all installed archives in a tree-like display. With just one click on the target topic, the tool automatically displays the offline content in the main window.
Configuration settings
Okawix lets you pick the default saving location, check out the size of the package that you are about to download, and view your search results.
In addition, you can make the utility display a list with all past searches, print the current page, find a word within a page, change the language, open data in your external web browser, zoom in or out of the text, change the visual aspect of the program by selecting between different skins, and set up proxy parameters.
Bottom line
All in all, Okawix comes with a basic feature pack for helping you download your favorite topics from the Wikimedia Foundation and read data in an offline mode.
