PagePing Description

PagePing is a lightweight utility that allows you to check a website periodically to see if it can be accessed. The program is designed to ping the desired page and display the result in the main window.
This tool can help website administrators test a certain web page by using a predefined time interval when they are not at their computer. The ping interval and the number of attempts can be customized from the Options window.
When the link cannot be accessed, the app can ping an alternative link or inform you with popup up message from the system tray. The program also includes an email notification feature that can use an email account to send automatic messages.
Unfortunately, the email notification settings does not support SSL which prevents you from using some email accounts such as Gmail.
While PagePing allows you to test a web page by simply entering the address in the main window, it is not able to check multiple addresses. If you need to check more than one page you need to enter them manually or select them from the dropdown list.
The advanced users have the option to view the HTTP headers for each ping and to save the results to a text file in order to analyze the results later. When combined with the automatic ping, this feature can help you identify the down times.
The interface is simple and the application requires insignificant resources while pinging web pages. Although it lacks a detailed documentation, it is easy to understand by both casual users and experienced network administrators.
Overall, PagePing can prove to be useful if you need to be notified when a web page is not accessible. If you need to monitor multiple websites, you need to find another solution.
