Pardon is a user-friendly and comprehensive application with the roles of an advanced dictionary and builder, which shows detailed information about particular words and grants access to cross-references and text formatting functions. It features wildcards creation and testing, along with the ability to download more dictionaries for the Internet.
It’s wrapped in a well-organized and self-explanatory layout with a basic search bar on top of the window, and three distinct tabs, each with a different purpose. The interface font and background color can be changed, along with the tint and format(bold, italic) for entries, definition, grammar, link or field.

To get started, all you have to do is write in a specific term and while you are typing the dictionary displays words starting or containing the whole or part of the phrase. The app shows extensive definitions, includes grammatical notes and examples of daily use. The relation function, presents details on how terms are related to each other, and lets you find synonyms and antonyms easily.
For the advanced search to work you have to tell Pardon that you want to perform a more thorough look by clicking on the “*?” button, which starts the process. The results are presented in the corresponding tab.

Using the builder feature, you are able to create and compile custom dictionaries and share them with other users of friends by sending it via email. Some required fields are title, copyright, URL, and description, along with a small editor, which offers basic editing and formatting tools to properly make the entries.
Plus, the tool also lets you design language vocabularies, or other types, such as company employee database and product lists. Another useful function is the small, built-in web browser that enables you to look up words on Google, Dictionary.com, HyperDictionary, Ling.pl and other sources. You can create your own wildcards, by inputting the source and target translations, and the run and test them.
