Password Generator

Password Generator is a program written in Java, which comes equipped with straightforward options to help you create random and secure passwords used to protect your sensitive information, such as documents, pictures, files and programs, as well as email accounts and wireless network connections.

No setup required, besides Java

As long as you have Java installed on your computer, you don't need to set up anything else. Therefore, you can save the downloaded files to a preferred directory on the computer or copy them to a USB flash drive, in order to directly run the tool on any machine. It doesn't add new entries to the Windows registry, so it doesn't increase the risk of OS stability issues.

Plain and simple interface

The interface looks rudimentary, as if Password Generator remained an unfinished project. However, it's easy to use, even if you don't have previous experience with such software.
When it comes to the password settings, you can include or exclude numbers and symbols, together with lowercase and uppercase letters, as well as indicate the number of characters.
The password is displayed in real time and can be swapped for a new one with one click. Unfortunately, it doesn't implement options for generating multiple passwords at the same time, nor buttons for copying, printing or exporting the key to file. On the other hand, you can select the text and copy it using the global hotkey.

Evaluation and conclusion

We haven't experienced any stability issues in our tests, thanks to the fact that the utility didn't hang, crash or prompt error messages. Unsurprisingly, it left a small footprint on system resources, since it used a low amount of CPU and RAM to work properly.
Although it doesn't have richer options, Password Generator offers a simple and straightforward solution for generating secure keys.
