Password Reader Description
Password Reader is a lightweight tool that aims to provide you with information about the passwords displayed in other applications. The program is designed to inspect the details stored in a window in order to display the password.
Passwords are used in multiple applications in order to prevent unauthorized users from accessing certain information. They are a great tool but forgetting them can cause a lot of problems.
If you have forgotten the password for an email account, the recovery process is usually not that complicated and does not require third party tools. However, the things are completely different when the password is for a FTP server or a program installed on your computer.
When you cannot remember a password and have no way of recovering it, you have two options: type in every possible password and hope to get it right or get help by using a recovery program.
Since the first method can take a lot of time and generate a lot of frustration, the Password Reader sounds like a viable option. The interface allows you to enter the name of the window in order to get all the text fields, including the desired password.
The results are displayed in the main window which enables you to copy the text in order to paste it in other documents. If you do not specify the name of the window, the list of all opened apps will be displayed.
Unfortunately, in our tests the program failed to retrieve the password fields from any of the tested windows. However, it was successful in retrieving all the other text elements which means that you can also use it to capture the text from a program interface.
To sum up, you can just as well try this tool before starting to type in every password that comes to mind. Since it requires no installation and has a small footprint, it only takes a few seconds to try and view the results.
