PCRx Description
Frequent, long-term computer use puts a strain on stability more or less, because registry entries become corrupt, and different leftovers drag down functionality. An antivirus solution has no power here, and this is exactly where specialized applications like PCRx come in handy to attempt to fix errors every now and then.
Fast initial scan operation
The application gets installed before you realize. Running it puts the scanner in motion without your consent, but you can stop it to take a look over the overall set of features. However, the application is pretty straightforward and optimized to handle most operations automatically, so you can go ahead with the initial scan.
Several areas of the computer are scanned, and it doesn’t take a lot of time to have results displayed, even though they update in the main panel as they’re detected. This can mean registry errors, areas which can be optimized, possible unstable browser add-ons, as well as redundant files.
Choose what areas to fix
Before fixing errors there’s the possibility to review scanned items. These are shown in expandable menus, also letting you select files you want to remove, or regions to fix. Needless to say that it’s recommended to fix all of them, but be sure to create a system restore point first, just in case unexpected issues occur.
When not used, the application quietly sits in the tray area. Accessing the settings panel lets you decide whether to run a scan on Windows startup, schedule a periodic scan, automatically create restore points before cleaning, show tray icon, and detect any troublesome startup items. Schedules can be configured with a minimum of daily scan, to a maximum of monthly intervention.
To sum it up
All in all, PCRx is a trustworthy application to have installed right after a fresh setup of Windows. With the built-in scheduler, you can worry less about long-term effects of computer use, while the scan operation takes a little while, showing detailed reports, and letting you choose what to fix and remove.
