Pcscope Description
Not until long ago, testing a circuit required an expensive piece of equipment that you connected to the device you want to examine for malfunctions or errors.
Pcscope is a lightweight application that enables you to troubleshoot your sound card and, based on the analysis of the property values, determine whether the displayed signal is absent or incorrect.
Old-school interface with customizable displays
The application comes with a relatively outdated interface that is composed of 2 panels. In the right region, you can view the values for various audio properties, such as wave output, sine out, sweep or scope, to name a few.
In the left panel, you can preview the specified values displayed graphically. It is necessary to mention that, depending on the options you select, the graph can become crowded and unreadable.
While the waveform chart can be moved around, the program should allow you to expand the graph to full screen. Moreover, let us not forget that you need some technical background in order to interpret these values.
Enables you to test a plethora of audio properties
Pcscope is designed to work as a simple audio oscilloscope and therefore, its features and options are limited to this role. Although it spares you of the trouble of measuring the waveform manually, you can solely verify the oscillations for the audio line input and the jack, if you connected one.
To be more precise, you can measure spectrum, frequency, zooming or the clock and phase changing. In addition, the program allows you to generate a sine wave with white and pink noise.
This can be a useful feature if you enjoy listening to music or if you really care about the accurate reproductions of the sounds you hear in everyday life, for example. Alternatively, the sine wave generator can prove useful when setting up and calibrating the sound in your home theater.
A good utility for personal projects
In the event your sound card is malfunctioning and want to find out if it is because of a physical problem, then Pcscope can lend you a hand.
