PDF Merge-Split Description
Merging Files:
To merge files, select the Merge tab. Click the Add Files button to select the files to merge. You may select multiple files in the standard way by clicking Ctrl or Shift while selecting. After files are selected, the program will read each file to determine the page count, which may take a few seconds. You may then enter the pages or page ranges which you from each document which you want to merge in the Page Ranges column, in the order that you want them to appear. To include an entire document, enter "All" (the default) or leave it blank. Multiple pages or ranges within a document must be separated by commas, and you may use the letter "e" to indicate the end of the document instead of entering the last page number. In addition, page numbers may be entered in reverse order. An example of a valid entry would be: 5-7,15-11,3,6,17-e. You will receive an error message if you enter the ranges in an invalid format, or if you specify a page greater than the page count. Documents are merged in the order in which they appear in the grid, so you may use the Move Up or Move Down buttons to change the order. The maximum number of files that may be merged at one time is 25. Click the Merge button to combine the files and you will be prompted for an output file name. If the View output file after merging box is checked, the file will be opened in Adobe Reader after it is created.
Splitting Files:
To split files, select the Split tab. Select the file to split and the output folder for the files created. If the Output to source folder box is checked, the output folder will automatically be set to the same as the source folder. After the file is selected, the page count and bookmarks (if any) will be displayed. If you want to split the file using specific page ranges, select By selected page ranges and enter the ranges in the same way as described above for merging files. Each range entered will be split into a separate file. For example, if you entered 2-5,7-11,13 you would get three files. These files will be named using the name of the source file with the page range appended to the name, in this case myfile_2-5.pdf, myfile_7-11.pdf, myfile_13.pdf.. If you split the file into single pages, the file names will include the source file name plus the page number. When splitting by bookmarks, the file names will consist of the source file name plus the bookmark name. After the files are created, they will be listed in the Files Created box and you may double-click to view them in Adobe Reader.
Editing PDF Properties:
On the PDF Properties tab, you may edit the title, author, subject and keywords properties of any PDF file. Select the file and the properties will be displayed. Edit them as you wish then click the Save button. Please note that the file must not be currently opened in Adobe Reader, or you will not be able to save the properties.
