PDF/A Converter offers a straightforward solution when it comes to creating PDF/A-formatted files from PDF documents.
The application can be fiddled with by all kinds of users, whether they have experience with conversion programs or not.
The interface is represented by a regular window with a plain and simple structure, where you can point out a PDF document using the file browser or folder view, since drag-and-drop is not featured.
There is also a batch mode available, meaning that you can convert multiple items at once to save some valuable time in the process.
All you have to do is specify the output directory and initialize the conversion procedure. In single file mode, you may also rename the file, while batch mode allows directory exclusions and creation options (fast or exhaustive mode).
Another option of PDF/A Converter permit the use of force when embedding symbolic fonts. The program is also capable of automatically opening the PDF file on task completion for viewing purposes. Last but not least, you can verify the integrity of the PDF/A file before conversion. Log details are shown in the main application window.
PDF/A Converter is very light on the system resources, running on a low amount of CPU and RAM. It has a good response time and finishes a conversion job rapidly, delivering excellent results. We have not encountered any difficulties throughout our evaluation.
The only downside to this program is that it does not leave too much room for customization (e.g. PDF metadata, security). Otherwise, it should please the entire audience.
