PeInfo Description

PeInfo is a feather-light console application that analyzes and displays information about Win32 executable files and DLLs, including import and export details.
It doesn't have command-line arguments, which makes it suitable not only to users experienced with the Command Prompt dialog, but also to those less skilled.

How it works

Once you've specified the name and extension of the Win32 or DLL file, the utility quickly gathers information and reveals the number of relocations, line number offset, number of line numbers, virtual address RVA, and virtual memory size. Additional info focuses on the file offset to raw data, characteristics, as well as relocation offset.
There is no option implemented for saving these details to file. However, you can select and copy text by pressing the Enter key. Only one file can be examined at a time, since PeInfo doesn't integrate commands for inspecting two or more files (or an entire folder) at the same time.

No installation required

Before proceeding any further, you should know that it's not compatible with 64-bit processors. The tool's packed in a single .exe file that can be copied to a preferred directory on the disk or saved to a removable storage unit, in order to seamlessly call its process from a Command Prompt instance.
It doesn't add new entries to your system registry, need DLLs or other components to work properly, or create files on the disk without your approval. In order to uninstall the program, you simply have to delete its executable.

Evaluation and conclusion

We haven't experienced any compatibility issues with newer Windows models in our tests, although PeInfo hasn't been updated for a pretty long time. Unsurprisingly, it had minimal impact on the machine's performance, running on a low amount of CPU and RAM. Files were swiftly analyzed. On the other hand, it doesn't feature richer options for advanced PC users looking for more control in a console environment.
