PhotoRestorer Description

PhotoRestorer is an application designed to scan removable media devices for lost or deleted photographs, in order to get them back by extracting them to the hard disk.
It offers support for JPG filetype only and doesn't implement complicated options or configuration settings, making it ideal for inexperienced users.

Hassle-free installer and simple interface

The setup operation is speedy and uneventful, since there are no unfamiliar options, prerequisite tools or third-party components involved.
Afterward, you can check out the user-friendly interface of PhotoRestorer, represented by a single window that displays all settings available.

Scan removable media devices for JPEG images

All you have to do is pick the letter of the drive you want to scan for deleted JPG files, modify the saving directory if you're not satisfied with the default setting (a new folder created on the desktop), and click a button to start the task.
During this time, you can check out the current and total sectors of the drive that are being scanned by the program. Therefore, user intervention is minimal.

Evaluation and observations

It didn't put a strain on the computer's performance in our tests, thanks to the fact that it required a minimal amount of CPU and memory to work properly. We haven't experienced any stability issues, as it didn't freeze, crash or indicate errors.
On the other hand, it doesn't make room for configuration. For example, it's not possible to select a drive letter different than the ones displayed in the drop-down menu, preview search results, or select the exact images you want to extract while discarding the rest.

Conclusion

All in all, PhotoRestorer offers a simple and straightforward method for recovering JPEG images from removable media drives, but it has a light set of features.
