PicRip Description
PicRip is an application you can use to seamlessly download images from websites and automatically save files on the computer. It doesn't include complicated options or configuration settings, making it accessible to all types of users.
No setup necessary, besides .NET Framework
The tool's not packed in a setup kit. Instead, you can copy the downloaded files to a preferred location on the disk or on a removable storage unit, in order to effortlessly run PicRip on any machine.
Just keep in mind that .NET Framework must be installed, since it was developed with the aid of this platform, otherwise it won't launch. It doesn't change system registry settings or create files on the disk without your knowledge, though.
Simple interface and options
As far as the interface is concerned, the utility adopts a standard window with a neatly organized structure, where you can enter the name of the website you're attempting to obtain photos from.
When it comes to the output settings, you can specify the numbers to start and stop taking pictures (numerical incrementation), along with the required digits and string of characters to apply as base in the file names. The entire operation can be started with one click as well as stopped if it takes too long or if you change your mind.
Evaluation and conclusion
It didn't put a strain on the machine's performance in our tests, since it needed a low amount of CPU and RAM to work properly. No error dialogs popped up and it didn't freeze or crash. Tasks were carried out pretty fast.
On the other hand, PicRip doesn't have richer customization preferences. For example, it's not possible to preview the pictures. We must also keep in mind that it hasn't received updates for a long time. Nevertheless, you can test PicRip for yourself, since it's free, open source and easy to use by anyone.
