Pinger Description
Network administrators need all sorts of tools to make sure everything is functioning perfectly. Pinger is a light utility that was created to help them ping various devices on the network. The program has a nice interface that is quite easy to figure out by all users, thanks to the intuitive layout. As mentioned before, the app can perform multiple tasks at the same time. All that the program requires when you add a new entry is to give it a name and provide the host IP address. Pinger's configuration window comes with only two options. First, you must define the number of polls (consecutive times that an error has to occur) before reporting failure. The maximum number of times you can set it for is 100. The program can be set to produce an audio alarm each time an error occurs. The second option allows you to define the poll interval to a value between 10 and 1000 seconds, on a increments of ten. Furthermore, Pinger can create logs for all actions. These can later be checked and you can compare the data from multiple sessions. The interface holds various details regarding each process, such as the IP address, response time and the time of the last ping.
The bottom line is that Pinger is a nice program that can be quite useful if you often work with network. Inexperienced users should have no problems working with it, thanks to its overall simplicity. Â
