PLP/M3U converter&compiler Description

PLP/M3U converter&compiler is a small program built to convert PLP playlists to M3U files and vice versa. It can also compile any other media files into the same standard formats. The PLP playlists are smartphone friendly files that work great with some handset media players.

Bare-bones interface

The overall layout of the utility is pretty basic and is limited to only four tabs out of which only three actually deal with the program's main features. The M2U to PLP, PLP to M3U, and their afferent compilation commands are all laid out in a string of options readily available for the user.

Limited features

The whole process is pretty simple. Users have to select their M3U file in its afferent folder and choose the output destination where he/she wants to send the PLP conversion result. The same applies to PLP to M3U conversion. The process happens rather quickly, but not without issues. It does crash a lot and has sometimes problems when recognizing PLP files unless users choose to reload the target folder.
The preview screen is displayed in plain text and shows all the media included in the M3U list, but it does have issues recognizing FLAC and a few other music formats. Nevertheless, if it doesn't crash during the export process, the tool is pretty satisfying.
The compilation of files into M3U and PLP works fairly similarly. Users have to choose the files they plan to compile and obviously the output folder. Apparently, all formats are supposed by the app, but every time we planned to add FLAC, WMA, or ATRAC files, it crashed again.

Conclusion

PLP/M3U converter&compiler is simple and interesting, but a bit clunky. It doesn't go well with less common music files, but works with media standards like MP3, WAV, and OGG. When it doesn't crash, it works fast and is highly efficient.
Overall, if you plan to get your Winamp playlist into PLP format, this is the app to get, but watch out for crashes or bugs when planning to compile some very specific media files.
