PolyCalc Description
Geared toward casual and expert users, PolyCalc is a small-sized application that facilitates three types of calculators: basic, programmer and scientific. It supports a wide range of advanced functions, such as decimal, hexadecimal and binary mode, square root and power, along with logical and trigonometrical operators.
Simple installation and interface
The downloaded setup file gets unpacked quickly and effortlessly. When it comes to the interface, PolyCalc opts for a simple appearance that doesn't put emphasis on graphical elements. The layout is set to basic by default and can be easily changed from the menu bar.
Basic, programmer and scientific calculators
While the basic calculator integrates options for common operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division), the programmer mode makes room for fractions, power, square root, hex, binary and decimal view, 16, 32 and 64-bit signed integers, absolute value, left and right shifting, and logical operators such as OR, AND, NOR and XOR, among others.
The scientific version of the calculator features the pi and e constants, randomization, sine, cosine, tangent, regular and natural logarithm, and so on. You can send commands to the calculator by either clicking on the buttons or by pressing keys on your keyboard. The tool is capable of displaying expressions as well as recording macros to help you with repetitive tasks.
Comprehensive calculator with macro support
Keyboard shortcuts are supported for macros, enabling you to start, stop and play recordings, as well as save macros to file (.pcm) to load them later. The command log is shown in the status bar and can be cleared.
To wrap it up, PolyCalc comes packed with a vast range of mathematical, programming and scientific functions. It's available through a user-friendly interface and gives you the possibility to create and save macro scripts. System resources usage was insignificant in our tests, and the tool stayed stable throughout its runtime.
