Portable AVCutty Description
When you capture a video stream using your dedicated camera, you most likely need a compatible software solution so as to control the process from beginning to end. If you are looking for an application that can help you with the capture process, but can also be used to trim or edit the resulting video, you can try Portable AVCutty.
As implied by its title, the software solution does not require any installation, so it can be carried on a portable USB flash drive, then launched whenever need arises.
The graphic interface of Portable AVCutty is user-friendly, and you can start recording the stream of your DV camera as soon as you select the device you want to use.
Alternatively, you can load a previously-recorded AVI file, then detect its scenes by choosing the method you prefer: optical or datestamp. If you select the optical type, you can also adjust the scene detection sensitivity, as well as the minimum frame count per scene.
Additionally, you can save a detected scene as a separate AVI file by assigning it a filename and specifying the target location. You can further modify the scene by cutting it to a user-defined length or you can capture the current frame as BMP.
You also get the possibility to cut a detected scene into several other parts by simply marking as many cut points as you like. Similarly, you can merge selected scenes so as to obtain a single longer video.
When you are pleased with the duration of your scenes, you can create a scene index, specify the thumbnail size, enter the column count and add a brief comment (it also supports HTML tags).
All in all, Portable AVCutty can come in handy to all those who want to quickly detect scenes in their captured videos, then save, delete or trim them to their liking.
