Portable Clipboard Recorder Description
Clipboard Recorder is no longer supported, so it is now impossible to purchase the application. Nonetheless, you can still download it from Softpaz and use it with the limitations listed on this page.
Although it’s not exactly fitted with an interface of its own, the Windows clipboard is an operating system feature without which computer use is incredibly difficult to even imagine. However, it can only store one item at a time by default, unless you rely on specialized applications like Portable Clipboard Recorder to solve the issue.
Advantages of a portable app
Just as the name clearly points out, this is the edition of Clipboard Recorder which doesn’t require installation in order to function, which means you can go ahead and run it from the moment download is done. Registry entries are not affected during use, so there’s no need to worry about the health status of the target PC.
The application saves all entries you copy, and this can mean a bit more than just plain text. Heading over to options menu allows you to choose the file formats to process, with the possibility to enable this for both copy and paste for file types like TXT, RTF, HTML, BMP, CSV, and metafile pictures.
Paste strings through custom hotkeys
It can sit in the tray area most of the times, but there are also two types of windows to work with. The floating one shows brief details about entries and includes a search function to easily find items in a crowded database. A simple selection of an item here immediately pastes it in the previous active window, given a text box is selected.
The second window provides a more detailed view of clipboard items. On the one hand, there’s a list of all items, and selection shows content in a preview area, which you can also edit if it’s text. Here you get the chance to organize elements a bit better, but there’s no option to export a list of items.
Pasting custom strings can easily be done by interacting with the tray icon to bring up a list of strings, which automatically disappears after selection. This can also be fitted with a custom hotkey command for a faster approach.
In conclusion
On an ending note, Portable Clipboard Recorder is a powerful clipboard extender which you can easily carry around, including all copied elements from previous sessions. It can process different file formats, while pasting custom strings is easily done through hotkeys, or a slim tray menu.
