Designed as the portable edition of Little Registry Optimizer, Portable Little Registry Optimizer is a straightforward application designed to help you optimize your Windows registry to improve the performance level of your computer.

No setup required, besides .NET Framework

Provided that you have .NET Framework installed on your machine, you don't need to set up anything else. This means that you can keep the downloaded files in any part of the hard disk and directly launch the executable, or copy them to a USB flash drive to run the tool on any PC with minimum effort. It doesn't add new entries to the registry or create extra files on the disk without your approval.

Simple GUI for registry optimization

As far as the interface goes, Portable Little Registry Optimizer opts for a small window with a plain and simple structure, where you can perform a registry scan with one click. Before doing so, you're asked to close any running programs.
The utility evaluates each registry hive, such as default, system, software, security and ntuser.dat, in order to calculate and display the current size and estimated compacted dimension (including the total values). System restart is necessary to finalize setup.
It automatically checks for updates at startup and creates system restore points before making any modifications to the registry, so you can restore Windows to a previous state if you start experiencing OS stability issues after using this application.

Evaluation and conclusion

We haven't come across any problems in our tests, thanks to the fact that the tool didn't freeze, crash or prompt error dialogs. It finished registry scan jobs rapidly while remaining light on system resources consumption.
Although it's not particularly feature-rich, Portable Little Registry Optimizer offers a simple and effective solution for optimizing your registry.
