This is the portable edition of Microsoft Office Configuration Analyzer Tool, a software application developed to help users discover possible configuration issues with Microsoft Office tools, as the name suggests.
Since installation is not a prerequisite, you can drop the program files anywhere on the hard disk and just click the executable to run.
It is also possible to save Microsoft Office Configuration Analyzer Tool to a USB flash disk or similar storage unit, in order to run it on any computer with minimum effort, as long as it has .NET Framework installed.
What's more, the tool does not create registry entries or additional files on the HDD without confirmation from the user, thus leaving the disk clean after removal.
The interface is clean and familiar, blending in with Microsoft Office. In order to start a scan you are required to specify a scan label and select the Office version from a list. The program looks into issues regarding application event log entries for last access crashes, installed updates, Office policies and registry settings, along with system and OS details.
Scans are recorded, so you can view log details. They may also be saved to XML files, in order to resume them at a later time. As far as program options are concerned, you can change the default location for scans, as well as pick another theme for the UI. Help documentation is available for less experienced users.
Microsoft Office Configuration Analyzer Tool does not concern the computer's overall performance, as it uses low CPU and RAM. It has a good response time and carries out a scan job quickly. We have not come across any issues throughout our evaluation. All in all, this software tool comes in handy to all users who want to regularly check Microsoft Office for configuration problems.
