Portable My Secure Notepad is a lightweight cross-platform utility designed to help users protect documents from unauthorized viewing in the easiest way possible.
Since this is a portable program, it is important to mention that it doesn’t leave any traces in the Windows Registry. You can copy it on any USB flash drive or other devices, and take it with you whenever you need to encrypt files with ease.
The user interface is really simplistic and allows users to enter the password in the dedicated dialog. As soon as you insert it, the application automatically opens a text editor which looks like Notepad.
The text editor doesn’t comprise any dedicated tools, as you are only required to type the message or paste it from another third-party application. Plus, the added information can be copied to the Clipboard.
Portable My Secure Notepad doesn’t give users the possibility to pick a saving directory and specify the file name. Actually, it lacks a saving button, so the only way to save the encrypted document is to close the text editor. The app automatically saves the encrypted files to the same location as the portable utility.
During our testing we have noticed that the program carries out a task very quickly and without errors throughout the entire process. It remains light on the system resources, so it doesn’t hamper system performance, nor interfere with other programs’ functionality.
All things considered, Portable My Secure Notepad offers a very simple solution for encrypting your documents. The lack of configurable parameters can be good news only for rookies, as they can set up the process on the fly. However, more experienced users may find it pretty inconvenient to work with a tool that comes packed with limited features.
