Portable Texter Description
Designed as the portable edition of Texter, this is a practical tool you can use to create text phrases to quickly insert into any application using keyboard shortcuts. It comes in handy to PC users who frequently work on text-oriented projects.
Portable tool with systray launch
You can extract the program files anywhere on the disk or on a USB flash drive to directly run the app on any computer with minimum effort. What's more, it doesn't change Windows registry settings.
It creates a systray icon at startup, so it runs in the background silently while you're carrying out your normal PC activities, without any interruptions.
Create and manage hotstrings
New hotstrings can be put together by entering the text phrase or script you want to quickly insert, as well as by specifying the trigger. This can either be a custom key or a combination of a custom key and the Enter, Tab or Space key.
It's possible to create as many hotstrings as you want, edit their properties at any time, and organize them into different categories, called bundles. These bundled can be imported and exported.
Set a Texter hotkey and other options
The application can be called by specifying a global keyboard shortcut. You can also create global hotkeys for managing hotstrings and disabling the tool. Furthermore, you can ask the utility to autorun at Windows startup, check for updates, enable a universal spelling autocorrect, and play sound when replacements are triggered.
Evaluation and conclusion
It had minimal impact on the computer's performance, running on low CPU and RAM. No error dialogs popped up in our tests and the program didn't freeze or crash.
Although it takes a while to figure out how it works, Texter offers a simple solution for quickly inserting predefined text into any programs using hotkeys.
